Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, June 2026 – BT Group has announced the elevation of Jay Muthu to the role of People and Culture Director – BT International, marking a significant milestone in his global HR leadership journey. In his new role, Jay will oversee country HR operations across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas, while leading BT International’s Human Resources Centers of Excellence, including Talent Acquisition, Learning, Leadership Development, Talent & Performance, Inclusion, Total Rewards, and Global HR Services.
Announcing his new assignment, Jay shared his excitement about supporting BT International during a period of significant transformation. His appointment reflects BT Group’s confidence in his ability to drive people strategy, culture transformation, leadership development, and workforce excellence across a complex global business landscape.
Prior to this promotion, Jay Muthu served as Country CHRO for BT Group India, where he led the people agenda for approximately 14,000 colleagues across the country. During his three-year tenure, he focused on transforming the employee experience, fostering a culture of belonging, and enabling high performance across the organization.
Before joining BT Group, Jay held the position of Director – Organization and People Capability at Entain, one of the world’s leading sports betting and gaming organizations. In this global role, he led talent acquisition, talent management, leadership development, employee engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, organizational development, HR transformation, and people strategy. He managed a global team of 85 professionals and was instrumental in strengthening the company’s talent and culture agenda to support its ambitious growth objectives.
Earlier, Jay served as Executive Director – Employee Experience and Digital People Director at Virgin Media, where he held dual responsibilities across talent, culture, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, well-being, people analytics, and strategic HR business partnering. He also played a key role in supporting major transformation initiatives, including the creation of the Virgin Media-O2 joint venture.
His extensive career also includes senior leadership positions with Monster, Clarivate Analytics, Thomson Reuters, VMware, ThoughtWorks, Aviva, Fidelity International, and EY. Across these organizations, Jay built deep expertise in talent development, organizational effectiveness, leadership capability building, HR transformation, culture change, and global workforce strategy.
In addition to his corporate leadership experience, Jay served as a Non-Executive Director and Trustee at Community Integrated Care in the United Kingdom, contributing to workforce, finance, and investment governance. His broad international experience across Europe, Asia, and global organizations positions him strongly to lead BT International’s global people agenda.
