Lagos, Nigeria, June 2026 – Rahul Gaur has joined Tata International Limited as Country Director – Auto, Nigeria, taking charge of the company’s commercial vehicle business and overall automotive operations in one of Africa’s most strategically important markets.
In his new role, Rahul will oversee the Commercial Vehicles portfolio, drive business growth and profitability with full P&L responsibility, and lead the development of Tata’s dealership network across Nigeria. His appointment comes as Tata International continues to strengthen its automotive footprint across Africa and expand access to mobility solutions through a robust distribution and service ecosystem.
With more than two decades of experience spanning automotive, electric mobility, insurance, telecommunications, and international business leadership, Rahul brings a strong combination of commercial expertise, operational excellence, dealer network development, and market expansion capabilities.
Prior to joining Tata International Limited, Rahul served as Director – West Africa at SPIRO, where he managed electric vehicle operations across multiple West African countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Burkina Faso. In this role, he was instrumental in developing dealer networks, expanding battery-swapping infrastructure, implementing customer service programs, and driving regional growth initiatives across the rapidly evolving electric mobility ecosystem.
Earlier at SPIRO, Rahul held the position of Country Head in Togo, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s electric vehicle presence through innovative payment models, strategic partnerships, network expansion, and customer-centric service strategies. His leadership contributed significantly to market penetration and business expansion in emerging African markets.
Before entering the electric mobility sector, Rahul spent nearly a decade with Renault, where he held several leadership positions, including Regional Business Head, Regional Sales and Network Head, Regional Sales Marketing Manager, and Area Sales Manager. During his tenure, he successfully managed dealer partnerships, expanded rural market penetration, strengthened sales and service networks, and consistently delivered strong retail and wholesale business performance across multiple regions in India.
Rahul also served as Area Sales Manager at General Motors, where he led regional sales operations and market expansion initiatives for the Chevrolet brand. His experience further includes leadership roles with ICICI Lombard, where he developed motor insurance partnerships and dealership channels, as well as earlier sales and channel management positions with Reliance Communications, Vodafone, Airtel, and HBL, building a strong foundation in business development, customer acquisition, and market expansion.
Throughout his career, Rahul has developed deep expertise in international business management, automotive retail ecosystems, dealer network creation, P&L leadership, strategic partnerships, and market entry execution, making him well-positioned to lead Tata International’s automotive growth strategy in Nigeria.
