Pune, Maharashtra, India, July 2026 — Barclays has appointed Dheeraj Jaggi as Head of Compliance & Digital Channels Technology (India), strengthening its technology leadership as the bank continues to advance regulatory compliance and digital transformation initiatives.
In his new role, Dheeraj will lead the Compliance and Digital Functions Technology team at Barclays, driving technology capabilities that support regulatory adherence, digital innovation, and enterprise transformation. He will collaborate across business and technology teams to enhance compliance technology, streamline digital processes, and deliver solutions aligned with Barclays’ strategic priorities.
Prior to joining Barclays, Dheeraj spent nearly six years at NatWest Group, where he served as Director of Technology – API and Head of API Engineering. During this period, he led enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives with a strong focus on API strategy, Open Banking compliance, and global technology delivery across India and the United Kingdom.
At NatWest, he architected an API ecosystem supporting more than 3,000 APIs, aligned with Open Banking frameworks including PSD2 and CMA mandates. He led geographically distributed engineering teams across India and the UK, delivered critical APIs supporting account information and payment initiation, drove agile product development, modernized legacy platforms using microservices, OAuth 2.0, and Spring Boot, and partnered closely with business and technology stakeholders to strengthen digital banking capabilities.
Before NatWest, Dheeraj built an extensive career at RBS, where he spent over 12 years in progressively senior technology leadership roles, including Vice President – Open Banking/API and Vice President – Investment Banking. During his tenure, he led the design and delivery of mission-critical technology platforms supporting investment banking, trading, and risk management. He also spearheaded the development of an equity derivatives trading platform, introduced Agile delivery practices that accelerated release cycles, and collaborated closely with trading and risk management teams to build scalable technology solutions.
Earlier in his career, Dheeraj worked as a Support Engineer at Microsoft, following software engineering roles at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Newgen Software, building a strong technical foundation across enterprise systems and software engineering.
With more than two decades of experience spanning digital banking, compliance technology, API engineering, Open Banking, cloud architecture, distributed systems, investment banking technology, and digital transformation, Dheeraj brings deep technical expertise and leadership experience to Barclays’ India technology organization.
