Birmingham, England, United Kingdom, June 2024 – Adam Race has joined Birmingham City University as the new Chief People Officer. With a substantial background in human resources and organisational development, Adam brings valuable expertise to the team, aiming to enhance the university’s HR strategies and support its workforce.
Before joining Birmingham City University, Adam served at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust for approximately 6 years. He held various roles, starting as the Deputy Director of Workforce for about 2 years, where he focused on workforce planning, employee relations, and HR policies. He then advanced to Deputy Chief People Officer for approximately 1.5 years, managing people strategies and leadership development. Most recently, he was the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development for about 2 years, where he led HR operations, strategic HR planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
Adam also served as the Interim Associate Director of People at Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust for 1.5 years. In this role, he managed HR operations, recruitment, and employee relations.
Earlier in his career, Adam worked at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust as the Deputy Director of Workforce for about 2 years, focusing on workforce strategy and employee engagement. He also served as the Head of Human Resources – Operations at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust for approximately 6 years, where he managed HR functions, including recruitment, training, and employee relations.
Adam began his HR career at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, where he held multiple roles over nearly 7 years. He started as a Workforce Information and Systems Analyst, progressed to Human Resources Advisor, and finally became a Human Resources Manager, gaining extensive experience in HR systems, employee relations, and HR management.
