In his new role, Alan will drive global access to SF Compute’s scalable AI infrastructure through the world’s leading open GPU Cloud Marketplace — expanding strategic partnerships, accelerating market penetration, and advancing the company’s mission to make compute a true commodity.
Before joining San Francisco Compute Company, Alan Butler served as Global Vice President, Channels & Alliances at OpenText, where he led worldwide channel and alliance reselling, system integration, and distribution operations. During his tenure, Alan also established OpenText’s first Partner Advisory Board across North America and Europe, fostering deeper partner engagement and enhancing global collaboration.
Prior to that, he played a pivotal role as Independent Advisor and GTM Leader to the Founding Team and Board at Brev.dev, where he guided corporate strategy, partnerships, and fundraising. His contributions were instrumental in shaping Brev.dev’s success before its acquisition by NVIDIA in 2024, a move that expanded NVIDIA’s AI cloud capabilities.
Earlier, as Vice President and Head of Global Partners & Alliances at Appen, Alan strengthened the company’s leadership in AI training data by driving strategic relationships in the Generative AI and LLM markets. His initiatives led to a 30% increase in partner-driven revenue, positioning Appen as a trusted partner to AI innovators worldwide.
Alan also held key leadership positions at Lambda, where he built the company’s go-to-market partner strategy for GPU-based AI/ML infrastructure, and at Red Hat, where he developed OEM partnerships with major players such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Intel, and AMD. His prior career includes leadership roles at DriveScale (acquired by Twitter), Dell Technologies, Astute Networks, Adobe, and Sun Microsystems, where he began his professional journey at the age of 18 — marking an extraordinary start to a remarkable 35-year career in enterprise technology.
