New Delhi, Delhi, India, November 2025 – GMR Cargo has announced the appointment of Amit Bhatia as Head of Human Resources, marking a new chapter in his accomplished HR leadership journey. Following GMR’s acquisition of Celebi Delhi Cargo as part of a government decision, Amit continues at the same workplace with expanded responsibilities, now leading HR strategy and operations across the GMR Airports Delhi Cargo division.
Amit brings nearly two decades of diverse HR leadership experience spanning pharmaceuticals, aviation, and manufacturing industries. Prior to this transition, he served as Head of HR at Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt. Ltd., where he led comprehensive HR functions for approximately 3,000 employees, including 1,000 unionized workers. His responsibilities encompassed employee relations, industrial relations, talent management, compliance, and long-term settlements with labour unions—demonstrating his deep expertise in managing complex, people-intensive operations.
Before joining Celebi, Amit spent over eight years at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, serving as Employee Relations Manager, where he oversaw employee and industrial relations across a nationwide workforce of 8,000. His work involved collective bargaining, grievance management, policy development, and compliance investigations, including POSH and ethics cases. Amit was instrumental in fostering cohesive labour relations and developing preventive strategies for non-compliance issues.
Earlier in his career, Amit held senior HR roles at Abbott Healthcare, where he served as Chief Manager, Human Resources and Zonal HR Manager – North India. He led large-scale field talent acquisition and HR process optimization across eight states, supporting multiple business divisions. His leadership helped streamline talent pipelines and strengthen HR systems across three Abbott business entities.
Before his tenure with Abbott, Amit was associated with Pfizer India, where he managed corporate HR functions, employee communication, policy formulation, and HRIS systems, following Pfizer’s acquisition of Vetnex. His early professional journey began with Ranbaxy Laboratories, where he contributed to the separation and establishment of Vetnex as a new entity, designing and implementing core HR systems, recruitment processes, and manpower planning frameworks.
Amit holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Human Resources from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence in human capital management.
