New Delhi, India, November 2025 — Amit Malik has been elevated to Vice President and General Manager – Asia Pacific, Japan & India (APJI) at Ciena, marking a significant milestone in his over three-decade career in the technology and telecommunications sector. In this expanded role, Amit will lead Ciena’s business growth, regional strategy, and customer partnerships across APJI, with a continued focus on innovation, network modernization, and sustainable digital transformation.
Amit has served as President – India & South Asia since May 2023, where he played a pivotal role in expanding Ciena’s market presence and strengthening relationships across enterprise, public sector, and service provider customer segments. His leadership has been central to advancing Ciena’s vision of building adaptive, high-speed, and intelligent network infrastructure across the region.
Before joining Ciena, Amit spent 18 years at Cisco, where he held several senior leadership roles including Managing Director – Service Provider Segment, Asia Pacific, Japan & Greater China, and Managing Director – Public Sector & Services, India & SAARC. In these roles, he led high-impact digital transformation initiatives, drove growth across key technology markets, and championed the advancement of 5G ecosystems and connected digital infrastructure.
Amit began his career at Siemens, spending over 13 years contributing to innovation in industrial systems and telecommunications. Over the years, he has built a reputation for scaling high-growth businesses, developing resilient leadership teams, and transforming underperforming businesses into strong, future-ready organizations.
His elevation reflects Ciena’s commitment to strategic leadership continuity and reinforces its vision to drive the next phase of digital connectivity, modernization, and customer-focused innovation across the APJI region.
