Kansas City, Missouri, September 2024 – Amy Garrelts has been named the Head of Talent at Populous, a global design firm specializing in creating memorable experiences through architecture and design. In her new role, Amy will lead talent management and development strategies to cultivate a high-performance culture that aligns with the firm’s mission of enhancing shared human experiences. She will also focus on coaching and mentoring staff, ensuring a thriving work environment at Populous.

Before joining Populous, Amy served as the Vice President of People Experience at Unbound, a nonprofit organization where she was responsible for overseeing all HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, strategic planning, compensation, and benefits. During her 1.5-year tenure, she significantly impacted the organization’s HR strategies and led initiatives to enhance employee engagement.

Prior to her role at Unbound, Amy was the Director of Succession Planning and Professional Development at Garmin for over a year. She focused on leadership development, succession planning, and strategic initiatives aimed at building future leaders within the organization. Her expertise in talent management and coaching made her a key player in Garmin’s leadership development efforts.

Amy also spent nearly three years at HNTB, where she held leadership positions such as Associate Vice President, Director of Organizational and People Development and Manager of Learning and Development. There, she led a variety of talent management and employee engagement initiatives, helping the company improve organizational effectiveness and conflict resolution.
