Ltd., a leading global Contract Research and CDMO company, has announced the appointment of Anirban Mitra as its Vice President & Chief People Officer (CPO). A seasoned HR leader with nearly three decades of experience across industries such as life sciences, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure, Mitra will spearhead TCG Lifesciences’ people strategy across its key locations in Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Mitra has been associated with TCG Lifesciences for over six years, steadily advancing through key leadership positions. As AVP & Head – HR & Admin and later VP & Chief People Officer, he has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s people-first culture and driving strategic HR transformation. Leading a team of 17 professionals across two major sites, Mitra has focused on reinforcing the alignment between business and people strategy, strengthening HR’s credibility as a trusted business partner, and nurturing a culture of meritocracy, high performance, and learning agility.
Prior to joining TCG Lifesciences, Mitra served as Divisional Head – HR at Vesuvius, where he led Corporate HR practices for India. His work included leading large-scale organization design projects, implementing competency frameworks, and building high-performance talent systems. Under his leadership, Vesuvius achieved record lateral hires and enhanced employer branding while rolling out robust performance management and career development frameworks.
Before his tenure at Vesuvius, Mitra spent over seven years at Cognizant Technology Solutions, where he served in multiple roles, including Associate Director – HR. He was responsible for global HR business partnering for 4,500 associates across geographies, as well as for HR strategy in the Kolkata region covering more than 14,000 employees. During this period, he also played a key role in enterprise-wide compliance, employee relations, and large-scale HR transformation initiatives. His work at Cognizant strengthened his expertise in global HR operations, talent management, and organizational culture design.
Earlier in his career, Mitra held senior HR roles at Tech Mahindra, Linde (formerly BOC India Limited), and Lafarge, where he specialized in Compensation & Benefits, Policy Design, and Organizational Effectiveness. His early experiences at Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited laid the foundation for his career in human resources, where he drove HRIS development, policy benchmarking, and performance management system design at the corporate level.
Mitra’s academic foundation in HR comes from IISWBM, Calcutta University, where he earned his Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. His leadership journey has been characterized by an ability to combine business acumen with people insight, ensuring that HR becomes a strategic enabler of organizational growth.
