Dilip Gopinath Appointed as Head of Innovation Banking, India at HSBC Innovation Banking

Mumbai, Maharashtra,India, October 2025 — Dilip Gopinath has been appointed as Head of Innovation Banking, India at HSBC Innovation Banking, as the organization launches its dedicated platform to strengthen India’s growing technology and venture ecosystem.

With over two decades at HSBC, Dilip has played a pivotal role in building the bank’s proposition for startups and the new-age economy. He has previously served in leadership roles including Director and Head, Portfolio Coverage – Tech and Director & Country Lead – Tech, Commercial Banking, where he drove lending programs, fostered collaborations with venture capital and private equity investors, and crafted strategic banking solutions for technology-driven enterprises.

In his new role, Dilip will lead HSBC Innovation Banking’s plan to channel $1 billion in non-dilutive debt capital to startups across various stages—from seed to IPO. This initiative will support founders and investors by enabling growth while allowing them to retain greater control. His appointment reflects HSBC’s strategic commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in India and globally.

The launch of HSBC Innovation Banking in India underscores the bank’s focus on expanding its footprint in the country’s dynamic startup ecosystem. By combining tailored financing with access to HSBC’s international networks, the initiative aims to reinforce India’s position in the global innovation economy while driving the bank’s worldwide innovation strategy.
