Washington, DC, United States, November 2025 — Barbara Spitzer has started a new position as Chief People Officer and Head of Operations & Internal Communications at Sunflower Services PBC, where she will oversee the organization’s people strategy, operational excellence and internal communications framework. Her leadership will support Sunflower’s mission of strengthening nonprofit and social-impact organizations through world-class operational capabilities.
Barbara Spitzer joins Sunflower Services PBC after serving as Chief People Officer at Arabella Advisors for approximately one year, where she led people strategy, talent acquisition, leadership development, Equity & Belonging initiatives and operational alignment. Working closely with senior leadership, she strengthened culture, capability and organizational effectiveness to support Arabella’s mission and growth.
Prior to this, she spent nearly a decade as Founder & CEO of Two Rivers Partners, LLC, a consultancy she built to help organizations align business strategy, workforce strategy and governance. Her work spanned major initiatives across diverse clients, including CEO transitions, growth strategy development, board assessments, operational transformations, leadership programs and advisory engagements for Fortune 50 companies, global nonprofits, and venture-backed organizations. Her interim executive roles—including Chief Commercial Officer at Denison Consulting—further highlighted her ability to guide organizational scale-up, commercial effectiveness and operational excellence.
Before founding her firm, she served for more than four years as Managing Director at Accenture, where she led the Board and CEO Advisory Practice and served as Global Lead for CHRO Elevate, Accenture’s executive coaching and HR leadership program. She spearheaded global governance advisory work, CHRO readiness initiatives, diversity and inclusion strategies, multi-billion-dollar client engagements and workforce transformation programs, establishing herself as a trusted advisor to board directors and senior business leaders.
Earlier in her career, Spitzer held senior consulting and leadership positions at Heidrick & Struggles, Capgemini Consulting, and Willis Towers Watson, where she led large-scale transformation programs, M&A advisory, HR strategy design, change management efforts, performance improvement and organizational development across global clients. Her early experience at EY further shaped her expertise in change management, communications and organizational redesign, laying the foundation for a distinguished career spanning more than three decades.
Alongside her corporate and consulting leadership, Spitzer continues to contribute to academia as an Adjunct Faculty and Guest Lecturer at New York University, Columbia University and Colorado School of Mines, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate students about human capital, consulting, leadership and organizational transformation. Her passion for education and thought leadership continues to influence the next generation of HR and strategy professionals.
