Burla, Sambalpur, Odisha, May 2026 – Bijaya Kumura has taken over as Head – HR, IR & ES&A at Tata Power Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL). In his new role, he will lead the organization’s human resources, industrial relations, employee services, and administration functions, supporting Tata Power’s expanding operations and people strategy in the Western Odisha region.
Prior to joining TPWODL, Bijaya Kumura spent more than eight years with Hindalco Industries Limited across multiple HR leadership assignments. Most recently, he served as Assistant Vice President and HR Head at Utkal Alumina International Limited. Earlier, he worked as HR Head – Gare Palma in Chhattisgarh and also led Learning & Development and HR functions at Aditya Aluminium Lapanga, contributing significantly to talent management, workforce capability building, industrial relations, and organizational development initiatives.
Alongside his corporate responsibilities, he also served as Additional Director at Kosala Social and Livelihood Foundation, supporting community and social development initiatives. He additionally held a leadership role with Toastmasters International as President during 2020, further strengthening his people leadership and communication capabilities.
Earlier in his career, Bijaya spent over seven years with UltraTech Cement as a senior HR and Industrial Relations professional. During this tenure, he handled talent management, learning and development, recruitment, industrial relations, statutory compliance, administration, contract labour management, Six Sigma coordination, ISO systems, public relations, and employee welfare initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Bijaya Kumura holds an MBA in Human Resources from Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
