Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, January 2025 – Catherine Decarie has been appointed as the Chief People Officer at Canadian North, marking her transition from a consulting role to a permanent executive team member. With her extensive experience and commitment to leadership, she will focus on driving strategic human capital initiatives while enhancing organizational culture and engagement.
Prior to joining Canadian North, Catherine Decarie founded Decarie Coaching & Consulting, where she served as the Founder and Head Coach for over three years. Her leadership development and executive coaching practice were anchored in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, addressing quality education, gender equality, and sustainable communities. During this time, she worked with diverse leaders and organizations to enable meaningful transformation.

Earlier, Catherine held several leadership positions at Export Development Canada (EDC), including Senior Vice President of Channels & Marketing from 2019 to 2021 and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs from 2016 to 2019. She played a pivotal role in fostering strategic relationships with stakeholders, promoting Canadian exporters, and advancing corporate social responsibility initiatives. Her tenure also included serving as Senior Vice President of Human Resources & Communications and Vice President of Organizational and Employee Development, where she led transformative HR strategies to enable high-performing cultures.
Catherine’s professional journey began with a legal career, serving as the Corporate Secretary at Dylex Limited and holding various positions at EDC over eight years. She also gained extensive expertise in governance, communication, and team-building through these roles.
