Culham, England, United Kingdom, June 2024 – Charlene Martin has joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority as the new Head of People – UKIFS. Charlene brings a wealth of experience in human resources and strategic leadership to this new role, ready to support the growth and evolution of UKIFS.
Charlene Martin has been with UK Atomic Energy Authority for over two years. Prior to her current role, she served as the Strategic HR Business Partner for two years, where she developed a people strategy to support the establishment and evolution of UKIFS. She worked closely with leadership teams and employees as a trusted advisor, focusing on increasing engagement and performance.
At Philip Morris International, Charlene worked for over seven years. She held various roles including Talent Management, Acquisition & Development Manager, where she revitalized the learning and development approach and led the talent review process, ensuring a healthy succession pipeline and clear development actions. She also managed sourcing, selection, assessment, and onboarding of senior-level positions, and led various projects, including the Inclusion and Diversity portfolio and Top Employer annual certification.
Charlene served as HR Manager at Philip Morris International, where she achieved successful certification for equal remuneration for men and women within the organization. She developed and drove the Diversity and Inclusion strategy, organized and coordinated the annual employee wellness day, and successfully developed a comprehensive compensation training program.
Earlier in her career, Charlene held roles such as Manager HR Services ZA, HR Services Team Lead at Philip Morris International, and HR Business Partner at De Beers Group. At De Beers, she provided generalist HR business partner support services, facilitated the company’s climate assessment, introduced a new Performance Management approach, and organized the company’s wellness portfolio.
Charlene’s career began at CSC, where she spent nearly 14 years in various roles, including HR Business Partner and HRIS Administrator. She ensured CSC achieved their BBBEE Level 3 status, developed and implemented an employee wellbeing program, and initiated clear communication of the COO’s vision and strategy to staff.
