Chicago, Illinois, United States, January 2026 — Carelon has announced the appointment of Dan Domenech as Chief Human Resources Officer, entrusting him with leading the people strategy for an organization of more than 40,000 associates. In his message on taking the role, Domenech emphasized Carelon’s purpose of becoming a lifetime, trusted health partner that lowers the cost of healthcare while making it simpler, more affordable, and more effective. He highlighted the organization’s expanding footprint across pharmacy, behavioral health, specialty care management, and home-based services, with value-based care embedded throughout its model. Before joining Carelon, Dan Domenech spent more than six years with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) in a series of global talent and people leadership roles. He most recently served as Interim Chief People Officer and Chief Talent Officer, reporting directly to the CEO and leading a global HR organization of nearly 800 professionals with a budget of approximately $100 million. During this period, he helped shape the HPE 2025 workforce transformation program, guided organizational engagement through major business transitions, and presented extensively to the Board on talent strategy and equity programs. As Chief Talent Officer, he oversaw talent acquisition, workforce planning, analytics, succession, learning, and performance management for a workforce exceeding 70,000 employees, with his performance management redesign receiving the i4cp 2024 Next Practice Award.
Earlier at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, he served as CHRO for HPE Services and CHRO for HPE Financial Services, partnering with business presidents to drive large-scale transformation, cloud-as-a-service capability building, and strategic workforce planning. He led organizational redesign, incentive transformation, and capability development for multi-billion-dollar business units, while steering HR response through the COVID-19 period and strengthening talent value management and acquisition across global operations.
Prior to HPE, Domenech was Vice President of Human Resources at Dun & Bradstreet, where he directed global HR strategy for a $2 billion, multi-business organization operating in 12 countries. He played a central role in modernizing culture, introducing new values, establishing global service centers, and building analytics-driven HR dashboards. His work enabled enterprise transformation and strengthened organizational capability to support competitive differentiation.
His earlier career includes senior HR leadership at American Express, where he served as VP Senior HR Business Partner for the $10 billion US consumer card business and global services operations, leading major restructuring and leadership development initiatives. He also held global roles at Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Honeywell/AlliedSignal, and began his career in the General Electric HR Management Program, building deep expertise across healthcare, financial services, and industrial sectors.
