Toronto, Ontario, Canada – October 2024 – Dan Sharkey has been appointed as the Vice President Human Resources at New Gold Inc. In this role, Dan will report to the CEO and will be responsible for leading the HR team to support New Gold’s business strategies and growth objectives. His focus will be on attracting and developing key talent, fostering employee well-being, driving leadership development and succession planning, and creating a strong company culture that supports an outstanding employee experience.

Before joining New Gold Inc., Dan Sharkey served as a Senior HR Business Advisor, Interim HR Leader, Consultant, and Board Director at DJGS Consulting, based in Toronto. He assisted organizations in various HR initiatives, including leadership development, business transformation, DEI efforts, and employee engagement.

Prior to that, Dan was the CHRO and Senior Vice President Human Resources at CAE for eight years, where he led a global HR team of 145 professionals. He was instrumental in driving strategic HR initiatives such as leadership development, culture transformation, DEI, and total reward plan designs while managing a multi-million dollar budget.

Dan also held multiple leadership roles at Bombardier Aerospace, including Vice President, Human Resources, Commercial Aircraft for ten years. He was responsible for leading HR for a large business unit, including labor relations, recruitment, compensation, and employee engagement. During his tenure, he also focused on cultural transformation efforts, enhancing transparency and accountability within the organization.

Earlier in his career, Dan was the Corporate Human Resources Manager at Shawcor for five years, managing various HR functions, including recruitment, training, and employee relations.
