Stoughton, Massachusetts, United States, March 2025 – Dean J. Patras has taken on the role of Chief People Officer at Collegium Pharmaceutical, Inc., marking a new chapter in his distinguished career in human resources leadership. In this role, he will oversee the company’s HR strategy, fostering a high-performance culture and driving talent initiatives to support the organization’s growth and operational excellence.
Before joining Collegium Pharmaceutical, Inc., Dean J. Patras served as Vice President, Human Resources, Global Commercial and Medical Affairs, Rare Disease Business Unit at Amgen for nearly one and a half years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in leading the HR aspects of the Horizon Therapeutics acquisition, including talent restructuring and integration processes. His expertise in organizational transformation significantly enhanced HR operations within the Rare Disease Business Unit.
Prior to Amgen, he spent over three years at Horizon Therapeutics as Vice President, Human Resources, Global Commercial & Medical Affairs. There, he was instrumental in scaling the company’s workforce to support rapid revenue growth, leading international HR expansion across 10 new countries, and integrating Viela Bio into Horizon’s commercial organization. His strategic HR leadership helped Horizon grow from $1 billion to $4 billion in sales over two years.
Earlier, Patras held key leadership positions at Takeda, where he spent over six years in various strategic HR roles. As Head of Divestitures Human Resources, he managed the HR aspects of $10 billion in divestments across 25 countries, developing a playbook for transition processes. He also led integration efforts following Takeda’s acquisition of Shire, successfully bringing together 55,000 employees within eight months. His earlier roles at Takeda included Senior Director of Integration & Divestments and Director, HR Business Partner – US Commercial, where he focused on driving HR transformation and optimizing global workforce structures.
