In this leadership role, he will spearhead the company’s people agenda, shaping HR strategy, talent development, and organizational culture as the company continues its rapid expansion across India.

Before joining Baazar Style Retail Ltd., Debanjan Ray served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Khimji Jewellers, where he led strategic HR transformation, performance management, and culture-building initiatives. His leadership at Khimji Jewellers was instrumental in aligning talent strategy with business growth and driving employee engagement through structured learning and leadership programs.
Prior to that, he was the Head of HR – Retail Business at V-Mart Retail Ltd., where he influenced over 500 fashion and FMCG retail stores across India. Over a span of three years, Debanjan helped V-Mart strengthen its human capital foundation by introducing talent transformation frameworks and designing HR interventions that reinforced its vision to be the “first choice for customers in value fashion.”
Earlier, he spent nearly 11 years at Vishal Mega Mart Limited, serving as Senior Human Resources Business Partner and L&D Head for over 500 hypermarket stores with an employee base of 11,000. His contributions included driving talent acquisition, performance management, and leadership development initiatives while leading the Centre for Learning Excellence.
Debanjan also held HR leadership positions with Next Retail (Videocon Group) as DGM–HR, Woodland as GM–HR, and McDonald’s as Head–Human Resources for North, Central, and East India. In these roles, he played a pivotal part in driving HR transformation, employee engagement, and capability-building strategies for large-scale retail and quick-service organizations. His career began at Sahara India, where he gained deep experience in talent acquisition, compensation, and employee relations while launching key media operations across multiple states.
