New York, United States, October 2024 – Deborah Wheelock has officially assumed the role of Chief People Officer at iCapital, a leading fintech company revolutionizing the alternative investment marketplace. In her new position, Deborah will oversee all aspects of global HR operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, performance management, learning and development, and HR technology. Her strategic leadership will guide iCapital’s continued growth as it powers the world’s alternative investment marketplace.
Deborah takes on this role with a commitment to building an inclusive and innovative talent strategy that aligns with iCapital’s global ambitions. She brings a wealth of experience, having successfully led global HR initiatives and scaling teams across multiple organizations in the financial services industry.
Before becoming Chief People Officer at iCapital, Deborah served as Head of Global Talent Management at the company for nearly four years. In this role, she spearheaded talent acquisition, learning and development, and employee engagement programs, successfully tripling the workforce during her tenure. She also enhanced leadership programs to drive employee performance and engagement across global offices.
Prior to iCapital, Deborah held the role of Head of Global Talent Management at Legg Mason, where she led talent management and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Over nearly two years, she introduced virtual learning programs, improved succession planning, and revamped talent acquisition strategies, which significantly enhanced organizational performance.
Deborah’s earlier career includes her time at Marsh & McLennan Companies where she was responsible for Global Talent Management across Marsh and Guy Carpenter. During her three-year tenure, she integrated and transformed HR functions across these entities, improving employee engagement and aligning HR systems and processes for greater efficiency.
Her career also includes six years at Mercer, where she was Partner, Global Talent Management & Diversity. Deborah was instrumental in developing global talent strategies and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion for over 20,000 employees worldwide.
