New Delhi, Delhi, India, January 2026 – Deepak Gupta has assumed the role of Head–Human Resources, Organisation Development & Administration at WaterAid India. In this leadership position, he will drive the organization’s people strategy, strengthen HR governance, and lead organisation development initiatives aligned with WaterAid’s mission of transforming lives through improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
In his new mandate, Deepak Gupta will oversee HR frameworks, policy design, talent management, learning and development, and administrative effectiveness. He will partner with senior leadership to build a purpose-driven culture, enhance employee engagement, and ensure that people processes enable WaterAid India’s expanding impact across communities.
Prior to joining WaterAid India, Deepak Gupta served as Senior Manager – Human Resources at American India Foundation for over three years. During this period, he played a key role in strengthening HR systems, onboarding processes, and talent development practices. His contributions in training, policy implementation, and employee engagement helped the organization build a more structured and people-centric HR ecosystem.
Before this, he spent more than thirteen years at Population Services International, progressing through multiple leadership roles including General Manager–Human Resources & Administration and Senior Manager–HR & Administration. Across these assignments, he led end-to-end HR operations, compliance, workforce planning, and capability building for large development programs. His experience in the social sector equipped him with deep insights into managing diverse, mission-oriented teams across geographies.
In the earlier phase of his career at Population Services International, he handled roles such as Manager–HR, Assistant Manager–People Department, Officer–HR, and Assistant–HR, where he built strong foundations in recruitment, performance management, training, and HR policy administration. These formative years shaped his expertise in people management and organizational development within the not-for-profit domain.
With over a decade and a half of dedicated experience in development sector HR, Deepak Gupta is recognized for his hands-on leadership, process orientation, and commitment to building inclusive workplaces. His transition to WaterAid India marks a significant step in furthering the organization’s people and culture agenda.
