Gurugram, Haryana, India, June 2025 — Dr. Amita Shah has been appointed as Chairman and Head of Department – Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Manipal Hospitals (MHEPL), Gurugram. With nearly 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Shah brings a rich legacy of patient-centered care, advanced surgical skills, and strategic leadership to one of India’s most trusted healthcare institutions.
Prior to joining Manipal Hospitals, Dr. Shah was the Founder and Director of Dr. Amita Shah’s Global Women’s Clinic, where she championed minimally invasive surgeries and promoted natural birthing practices. Her work has earned her a reputation for surgical excellence in complex gynecologic and reproductive conditions.
Before that, she served as Medical Director & Head – Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Apollo Cradle, where she led patient care initiatives and advanced minimally invasive gynecological techniques. Her empathetic approach and skillful surgeries were highly appreciated by patients and peers alike.
Her most significant tenure was at Columbia Asia Hospitals Pvt. Ltd., where she served for over 12 years as Senior Consultant & Head – Obs-Gynae. In this role, she played an integral part in building a robust women’s health department, contributed to clinical protocols, and actively engaged in institutional quality and ethics committees.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Shah also served as a Visiting Consultant across leading hospitals in South and South-West Delhi and gained experience as a Senior Resident at St. Stephen’s Hospital, New Delhi. Her academic brilliance as a Gold Medalist from King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and specialization in Obstetrics & Gynaecology continue to underpin her clinical leadership. She is an active member of both the Indian Fertility Society (IFS) and the Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (IAGE).
At Manipal Hospitals, Dr. Shah will lead integrated women’s health programs with a strong focus on preventive care, fertility solutions, high-risk obstetrics, and advanced gynecological surgeries, including robotic-assisted procedures.
