Dr. Sanjay Gupta Promoted to Joint President and Chief Procurement Officer at Adani Group

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, July 2024 – Dr. Sanjay Gupta has been promoted to the position of Joint President and Chief Procurement Officer at Adani Group. In this new role, Dr. Gupta will oversee strategic procurement operations and drive excellence in supply chain management across the organization.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta has been with the Adani Group for nearly two years. Most recently, he served as the Chief Procurement Officer, where he was responsible for leading the procurement function and optimizing supply chain operations. His strategic thinking and leadership have significantly contributed to the company’s operational excellence.

Before his tenure as Chief Procurement Officer, Dr. Gupta held the position of Sr VP & Head of Techno-commercial APSEZ and Logistics at Adani Ports and SEZ. In this role, he managed procurement, logistics, contracts, and the entire gamut of supply chain management for the port and logistics divisions. His efforts were instrumental in streamlining operations and achieving cost efficiencies.

Dr. Gupta’s journey with the Adani Group began in 2011 when he joined Adani Enterprises Limited as the Sr Vice President & Head Techno Commercial. Over a decade, he shouldered responsibilities as the Group COE and led strategic sourcing for major bulk commodities, capital goods, and various engineering projects. His contributions laid the foundation for several key infrastructure projects and procurement initiatives across the group.

Prior to joining Adani Group, Dr. Gupta was the Head of Procurement (EPC & International division) at ERA Group. His leadership in strategic procurement and contract management helped drive the company’s growth in the EPC sector.

Earlier in his career, he served as the Cluster Materials Manager at Larsen & Toubro and the Associate General Manager (SCM) at Kremikovtzi Corporation, where he gained extensive experience in procurement, logistics, and supply chain optimization. His strategic insights and operational excellence were crucial in managing large-scale procurement projects and optimizing supply chain processes.

Dr. Gupta’s career began with Wolkem India Limited, where he served as the Deputy General Manager (SCM). His role involved organizing procurement for capital plants, machinery, and bulk raw materials, contributing to the company’s operational efficiency and cost management.
