New Delhi, Delhi, India, March 2025 – Dr. Sumit D. Chowdhury has been appointed as Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Goodyear India Ltd, a company globally renowned for its pioneering innovations in tire technology and mobility solutions. In his non-executive role, Dr. Chowdhury will contribute his extensive expertise in global consulting, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, ESG, public policy, and government collaboration, supporting Goodyear’s strategic growth under the leadership of the newly appointed Managing Director, Arvind Bhandari.
Dr. Chowdhury is currently Founder and CEO of GreenEarthX, a digital platform creating the world’s first multi-country marketplace for green hydrogen and other sustainable energy alternatives. Since April 2023, he has been building this digital ecosystem out of the San Francisco Bay Area.

He also serves as the Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Gaia Smart Cities, a GovTech and infratech solutions provider enabling smart city and industrial automation solutions in India. His leadership has driven digital infrastructure development across multiple smart cities and government programs since 2015.
Dr. Chowdhury has served as Independent Director at ABM Knowledgeware Ltd and BARC India, contributing governance insights, especially in the domain of e-Governance and technology policy. At BARC, he provides technical guidance in data measurement and governance systems.
In academia, he has been associated with Carnegie Mellon University as a Visiting Faculty and Dean’s Advisory Board Member since 2015, focusing on collaboration between research and real-world smart city implementations.
Earlier, Dr. Chowdhury held executive leadership roles such as Chief Technology Officer at Brookfield Properties and President & CIO at Jio, where he led digital transformation and enterprise business strategy. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Partner at IBM, where he led the consulting practice in the telecom and media sectors for India and South Asia.

He also has notable stints with Reliance Communications as CIO, and BearingPoint and KPMG in Australia and the USA, where he led large-scale business transformation and consulting programs. His early professional journey began with Philips India as a Project Engineer.
