Halifax, Nova Scotia – Elizabeth Levangie has been announced as the new Director of Human Resources Operations at Irving Shipbuilding. With over a decade of experience in various strategic HR roles across notable organizations, Levangie is set to lead and innovate the HR practices at one of North America’s premier shipbuilding facilities.
Before her appointment at Irving, Levangie served as the Senior Human Resources Manager at GFL Environmental Inc., where she was instrumental in developing and managing the organization’s immigration policies and ensuring compliance with local and international laws from January to May 2024.
At GFL, she also held the role of Senior Human Resources Manager for the Atlantic region, where she managed strategic HR projects and provided oversight to HR teams across nearly 26 sites, handling complex issues such as DEI&B, immigration, and collective bargaining from April 2022 until her recent move.
Her earlier roles included serving as a Senior Advisor in Human Resources at Newalta, where she was responsible for HR consulting services across five business units in Atlantic Canada from January 2013 to January 2015. She also has experience as an HR Business Partner at Tim Hortons, where she provided HR consulting services for over 300 restaurants and related facilities.
