Salalah, Oman, July 2026 — APM Terminals Bahrain has announced the appointment of Farooq Zuberi to a new leadership role within the APM Terminals global network as Chief Financial Officer at Port of Salalah. The transition follows nearly eight years of financial leadership at APM Terminals Bahrain, where he played a significant role in strengthening financial performance, supporting business growth, and advancing sustainability initiatives.
During his tenure as Chief Financial Officer at APM Terminals Bahrain, Farooq provided strategic financial leadership while supporting the company’s long-term growth agenda. In addition to overseeing finance, governance, and business performance, he contributed to the company’s decarbonisation journey by supporting initiatives focused on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions across terminal operations. His appointment to Port of Salalah reflects both his leadership capabilities and the strength of talent development within the global APM Terminals network.
Before joining APM Terminals in 2018, Farooq served as Finance Business Partner at the Emirates Group, where he supported a business division generating approximately US$1 billion in revenue and employing more than 10,000 people across one of the world’s busiest international airports. His responsibilities included strategic financial planning, budgeting, investment evaluation, financial reporting, and business performance analysis.
Earlier, he spent more than four years with GSK, serving as Head of Finance and previously as Finance Controller – Consumer Healthcare. He led the finance function for the company’s consumer healthcare business, supporting manufacturing operations, sales teams, financial planning, management accounting, audit, and business transformation initiatives that enabled sustained business growth.
Prior to GSK, Farooq worked with Unilever, where he held finance leadership roles as Finance Business Partner – Beverages and Assistant Manager – Supply Chain Finance, supporting commercial decision-making, pricing, budgeting, capital investments, forecasting, cost optimization, and manufacturing finance. He began his professional career with PwC, completing his chartered accountancy training while working across external audit and advisory assignments for clients in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aviation, financial services, and banking, including an international secondment with PwC Kuwait.
With more than two decades of experience across ports and logistics, aviation, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and professional services, Farooq Zuberi has built deep expertise in strategic finance, business partnering, financial planning and analysis, investment management, operational finance, sustainability, governance, and business transformation. His appointment as Chief Financial Officer at Port of Salalah represents an important leadership milestone within the APM Terminals global organization.
Farooq Zuberi is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).
