Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, November 2025 — Fiona Fahey has been appointed as Head of People and Culture at Housing Australia, the nation’s independent housing agency dedicated to improving housing outcomes for all Australians. In her new role, Fiona will lead the organization’s people and culture strategy, focusing on building an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workforce that supports Housing Australia’s purpose-driven mission to make housing more accessible and affordable across the country.
Before joining Housing Australia, Fiona Fahey served as Director, People & Culture at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) for over three years. In this role, she led transformative HR initiatives, workforce planning, and organizational development programs for one of Australia’s major public health networks, supporting over 10,000 employees across multiple facilities and services.
Prior to that, Fiona was Executive General Manager, People & Culture at Disability Services Australia (DSA), where she played a pivotal role in aligning workforce strategies with the organization’s mission to empower people with disabilities. Her leadership strengthened employee engagement and drove key people and culture initiatives across diverse operational environments.
Earlier, she held a six-year tenure as Director, People & Communications at Cancer Council NSW, where she integrated people strategies with organizational communications to build a strong, values-driven culture. Under her leadership, the organization advanced its employee experience programs and fostered a collaborative, mission-oriented workplace.
Before her leadership at Cancer Council, Fiona held strategic HR roles including Group Manager, Organisational Development at NSW Trade & Investment, National Manager, Employee Relations at Mission Australia, and Human Resources Manager at Bupa, where she developed deep expertise in employee relations, organizational design, and leadership development. Her early experience as Organisational Development Business Partner at Transfield Services (Broadspectrum) and Human Resources Generalist at TransGrid laid the foundation for her accomplished career in people leadership.
Fiona Fahey holds a Master’s in Commerce (Major in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management) from UNSW Sydney (2003–2006).
