Chicago, Illinois, United States, January 2025 — Gabriel Nieves has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Shedd Aquarium, where he will lead the organization’s HR strategies, focusing on enhancing workplace culture, diversity, and leadership development. With extensive experience in people management, culture transformation, and strategic leadership, Nieves is well-positioned to drive impactful initiatives within the organization.
Prior to joining Shedd Aquarium, Gabriel Nieves served as Vice President of People & Culture at PAWS Chicago for nearly a year, where he led organizational strategies in talent management and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Earlier, he held the role of Head of People & Culture at the same organization, contributing to culture transformation and leadership development.
Before his tenure at PAWS, Nieves worked at Davidson Hospitality Group as Area Director of People & Culture, where he focused on stakeholder engagement, mergers and acquisitions, and culture development.
He also served as Director of Human Resources at Ambassador Chicago, where he led HR strategies during the rebranding transition. His early career includes roles at Hilton, Target, and Best Buy, focusing on HR leadership, talent acquisition, and employee relations.
