London, United Kingdom, September 2025 — Gemma Pennicard has been appointed as Head of People – Corporate Functions at EDF (UK). In her new role, she will oversee the people agenda for EDF’s corporate functions, ensuring strategic alignment between business goals and workforce development as the company continues to drive the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future.
Pennicard brings over 15 years of progressive HR experience within EDF, where she has held multiple leadership roles and contributed to shaping the company’s people strategy across business units.
Most recently, she served as Senior People Partner – Wholesale Market Services at EDF, where she provided strategic HR partnership to business leaders and supported workforce strategies in a dynamic, market-driven environment. Prior to that, she spent more than five years as HR Business Partner – Manager, playing a pivotal role in organizational development, talent management, and employee engagement across critical functions.
Her earlier journey at EDF Energy saw her serve as HR Business Partner, Redeployment Advisor, and Quality and Engagement Coordinator. In these roles, she supported large-scale workforce transitions, led initiatives on redeployment and career mobility, and helped enhance employee experience during periods of business transformation. Her contributions during this time built the foundation for EDF’s modern HR practices.
In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Pennicard has also served the wider HR community as Group Chair of CIPD East Devon, where she helped foster collaboration, professional development, and thought leadership within the HR profession.
With this extensive background, Pennicard is expected to strengthen EDF’s people agenda, enabling the organization to retain and develop talent as it invests in nuclear, renewable, and low-carbon technologies. Her appointment underscores EDF’s commitment to aligning its workforce strategies with its mission to help Britain achieve Net Zero.
