ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN — Indira Kuanbayeva has been promoted to Director of HR & Organizational Development Design (ODD) at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), assuming her new role in April 2024. With a diverse background in human resources and legal support across various industries, Kuanbayeva brings over a decade of expertise to her new position at one of Kazakhstan’s leading financial institutions.
Kuanbayeva’s journey at AIFC began just six months ago, where she quickly made a significant impact as Senior Manager in Compensation & Benefits within the HR & OD Department. Her work involved developing and implementing comprehensive compensation strategies, enhancing employee benefits programs, and optimizing performance management systems to align with AIFC’s strategic goals.
Prior to her tenure at AIFC, Kuanbayeva served as Deputy Head of HR at TotalEnergies in Aktau, where she supported leadership initiatives and drove the people performance management system. Her efforts were crucial in implementing Compensation & Benefits (C&B) policies and supporting all business functions with effective HR solutions.
Before joining TotalEnergies, she was an HR Supervisor, where she managed HR Shared Services and played a key role in automating and digitizing HR processes. Her work included improving payroll coordination, managing contractor relations, and supporting comprehensive HR initiatives from recruitment to employee benefits.
Kuanbayeva also held positions at Maersk Oil as a Legal Assistant and Legal Secretary, where she provided critical legal support and consultation, underscoring her ability to handle complex legal and compliance issues related to human resources. Her early career included roles that enhanced her skills in legal documentation, contract negotiation, and HR policy development.
