Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, December 2024 – Reliance Industries has appointed Ira Bindra as the Group President of Human Resources, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s approach to people, leadership, and talent management. The announcement, made by Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, underscores the strategic importance of this role in driving organizational transformation.
Bindra, a distinguished HR and business leader, brings a wealth of experience spanning over two decades across leading global organizations. She most recently served as Head of Human Resources and Vice President – Global Regions at Medtronic, where she played a key role in integrating business regions and driving talent strategies.
As the Group President of Human Resources, Bindra will lead efforts to transform Reliance’s people policies, culture, and leadership development. Collaborating with Mukesh Ambani, Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, Anant Ambani, and the executive committee, she will be instrumental in shaping the company’s strategic HR agenda and building on its foundation of talent excellence.
Bindra’s experience includes leadership roles at GE Capital, GE Healthcare, GE Oil & Gas, and Medtronic, where she successfully managed complex organizational changes, talent strategies, and cultural transformations across geographies such as India, the United States, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
“Bindra is a global HR and business leader with deep expertise across industries and geographies,” said Ambani. “Her ability to integrate business, data, and people strategies will drive impactful results for Reliance as we continue to innovate and grow.”
During her tenure at Medtronic, Bindra led HR for Global Regions, an $18 billion organization with over 16,000 employees across 120 countries. She was instrumental in integrating three major regions—Americas, EMEA, and APAC—into a unified entity, establishing leadership teams, and driving operational excellence. Her leadership has been recognized with accolades such as Great Places to Work certifications across multiple countries.
At GE, Bindra held various senior roles, including VP and Global HR Leader for Advanced X-Ray Technologies and Global HR Leader for IT, where she spearheaded transformative initiatives such as site consolidations, talent development, and strategic acquisitions.
Bindra holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lady Shri Ram College and an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
