Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, November 2025 — Irene Mariki has taken on the role of Head of Human Resources Operations at Airtel Tanzania, marking a significant milestone in her career in HR leadership and people operations. With nearly two decades of experience across payroll management, employee engagement, compensation & benefits, rewards governance, and industrial relations, Irene brings deep operational expertise and strategic capability to her new position.
Prior to joining Airtel Tanzania, Irene served at Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd for over 15 years, where she progressed through multiple HR leadership roles. Most recently, she served as HR Services & Rewards Manager, where she led compensation strategy, employee well-being programs, payroll governance, labor relations, and performance management frameworks. During her tenure, she played a central role in maintaining strong union relations, designing payroll and benefits systems, and enhancing employee experience across the organization.
Within Coca-Cola Kwanza, Irene also held roles including Payroll Coordinator, where she managed payroll accuracy, compliance, and system optimization for local and expatriate employees. Her disciplined approach to process management and policy alignment helped strengthen financial controls and HR operational efficiency.
In 2025, Irene took on a Payroll Specialist role within the same organization to support critical workforce transitions and ensure continuity of process excellence. Her adaptability, people-first leadership style, and knowledge of HR service models have made her a respected leader in Tanzania’s HR ecosystem.
In her new position at Airtel Tanzania, Irene will oversee HR operations, people processes, rewards administration, and employee engagement, with a focus on supporting business growth and fostering a collaborative and empowering organizational culture. Her strong grounding in HR systems and governance positions her to strengthen operational effectiveness and elevate the people function across the organization.
