Kansas City, Missouri, United States, March 2025 – Iris Edelen has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer at the Kansas City Royals, marking a new milestone in her extensive HR leadership career across diverse industries. In her new role, she will oversee talent strategy, organizational culture, and HR transformation to drive the Royals’ workforce strategy and people development initiatives.
Prior to this, Iris served as Vice President of People and Culture at the Kansas City Royals, where she played a critical role in shaping HR policies, fostering employee engagement, and developing high-performing teams over the last three years. She was instrumental in enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and implementing strategic HR initiatives to strengthen the Royals’ culture.
Before joining the Royals, she worked at Orion Group Holdings, Inc. for five years, initially as Senior Human Resource Manager before being promoted to Human Resources Director. During her tenure, she led HR operations, talent acquisition, and compliance management across multiple regions, streamlining processes and improving employee relations strategies.
Iris also held a Regional Human Resource Generalist role at Live Nation Entertainment, where she was responsible for HR operations for over 2,500 employees across the Western United States. She played a pivotal role in leadership training, talent development, and employee engagement, along with launching a national campaign to hire veterans. Earlier in her career, she worked at Target as an Executive Team Leader, where she led HR functions for a 170-member team, and interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), gaining experience in workplace compliance investigations.
