Helsinki, Finland, September 2024 — Jaana Junell has been appointed as the Head of People and Culture Development at VR Group. In this new role, Jaana will lead the development of HR initiatives focusing on culture, talent, and leadership across the organization. Her deep expertise in human resources will help further strengthen VR Group’s people strategy and drive organizational growth.
Jaana spent nearly seven years at ISS Palvelut, where she served as the Head of Talent & Learning and Diversity & Inclusion. During her tenure, she was responsible for HR development, learning strategies, talent management, leadership development, and diversity & inclusion initiatives. Her efforts contributed to shaping the organization’s HR systems and fostering a more inclusive work culture.
Prior to that, Jaana worked as the HRD Director at Suomen Terveystalo Oy for five years. In this role, she led HR digitalization projects, talent and competence development programs, and HR change initiatives. Her work focused on employee engagement, occupational safety, and overall workforce well-being.
Jaana also spent over four years at Nokia Siemens Networks in HR leadership roles. She managed the implementation of global talent, leadership, and organizational development initiatives. Her leadership was instrumental in the deployment of strategic HR projects aimed at enhancing leadership development and organizational capability.
Jaana’s earlier career includes senior HR roles at Nokia, where she contributed to competence development and supplier management, and Accenture, where she worked as an IT consultant. She also held HR positions at UPM-Kymmene, gaining valuable experience in IT and customer support roles.
