Liverpool, England, United Kingdom, October 2025 – Northern Trains Limited, one of the UK’s largest train operators connecting communities across the North of England, has announced the appointment of Jodie McEvoy as Head of People Services & Systems. In this role, Jodie will lead the transformation of HR operations, systems, and service delivery as Northern continues to build an inclusive, people-centric workplace culture that supports its public service mission.
With over 15 years of HR leadership experience, Jodie McEvoy brings deep expertise in HR service delivery, reward management, policy development, and employee relations gained through senior roles in large, complex organizations.
Before joining Northern, Jodie spent nearly 14 years at Yodel (Yodel Delivery Network Ltd), where she held several senior positions. Most recently, she served as Director of People Services, overseeing HR service delivery, payroll, reward, and HR systems across a large workforce. In this capacity, she successfully led major digital and process transformations, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and a positive employee experience.
Earlier at Yodel, she served as Head of Reward & Policy, where she was instrumental in implementing new employment terms and conditions, embedding pay grading frameworks, and improving pensions governance in a heavily unionized environment. Prior to that, she worked as HR Business Partner, partnering with senior leaders to design and execute HR interventions during a period of significant organizational change. Her earlier role as HR Shared Services Manager at Yodel saw her leading the establishment and optimization of centralized HR processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Before Yodel, Jodie held the role of HR Shared Service Manager at Home Delivery Network Limited (HDNL), where she led HR process integration during the company’s evolution into Yodel. She began her HR leadership journey with RSA (Royal & Sun Alliance) as HR Advice & Coaching Manager, providing expert HR guidance, employee relations support, and policy implementation for the company’s UK operations.
Jodie holds a Master’s in Personnel & Development from Liverpool John Moores University, where she specialized in Human Resources Management and Personnel Administration, further reinforcing her strategic and academic grounding in HR leadership.
