Palo Alto, California, United States, April 2025 – John Chu has joined Hippocratic AI as the Chief People Officer, where he will lead the human resources function to build and scale a mission-driven organization focused on the safe and responsible development of generative AI in healthcare. In his new role, John will play a key part in shaping people practices that align with Hippocratic AI’s bold vision of improving global health outcomes through AI innovation.
Before joining Hippocratic AI, John Chu served as Senior Director of Human Resources at Waymo, where he spent over seven years leading the HR Business Partners, People Operations, Employee Relations, and Organizational Development teams globally. His work was instrumental in enabling Waymo’s rapid scale and organizational maturity in the autonomous mobility sector.
Earlier, John was the EVP and Chief People Officer at data.ai, where he led global people operations, real estate, and administration during a period of hypergrowth. Prior to that, he held a pivotal HR leadership role at Yahoo, supporting one of its largest global product development divisions.
His career also includes strategy and transformation consulting experience at Booz & Company (now Strategy&), and Deloitte, where he delivered human capital solutions to Fortune 500 clients. He began his HR journey with foundational roles at Sony, HireRight, and Raytheon, building deep expertise in compensation, talent strategy, and organizational effectiveness.
