Los Angeles, California, United States, September 2025 – Marqeta, the modern card issuing platform, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Soffin as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). In this leadership role, Jonathan will oversee global marketing strategy, brand positioning, and go-to-market execution, further strengthening Marqeta’s reputation as a pioneer in embedded financial solutions and digital payments innovation.
Jonathan joins Marqeta after a successful tenure at Blackhawk Network, where he spent more than four years in senior marketing leadership roles. As Vice President and Head of Global Brand & Product Marketing, he directed go-to-market strategies, brand positioning, and product marketing across the company’s global footprint, driving awareness and adoption of innovative payment solutions. Earlier at Blackhawk, he served as Vice President of Global Product Marketing, leading initiatives to scale product launches and expand brand presence worldwide.
Before Blackhawk, Jonathan spent over three years at ADP, where he advanced from Senior Director of Marketing – Wage Payments to Head of Marketing – Payments. There, he spearheaded marketing strategies for key payment products, strengthening ADP’s leadership in financial services for businesses and employees.
His earlier career includes a pivotal role at Capital Group | American Funds as Marketing Director, Institutional Retirement, where he developed the go-to-market strategy that drove a 76% increase in annual Target Date Fund sales in 2017, surpassing JP Morgan and reaching record market share.
Jonathan also spent seven years at Green Dot Corporation, rising to Senior Marketing Director – Green Dot Network & Walmart Payments, where he launched innovative services such as PayPal Cash at the Register, expanded retail financial services, and led product relaunches nationwide. Earlier in his career, he held brand management and innovation roles at Nestlé USA (Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Crunch) and Procter & Gamble (Crest Toothpaste), where he successfully launched new products and marketing strategies. He began his career as a Financial Analyst at General Mills, developing a strong foundation in business analysis and product strategy.
Jonathan holds an MBA in Strategy and Marketing from the University of Michigan – Ross School of Business.
