Houston, Texas, United States, December 2024 – Joop Oranje has taken on the role of Senior Director, People and Culture at Rice University, where he will lead human resources strategies and initiatives to foster a thriving and inclusive campus community. Joop’s extensive experience in HR leadership and organizational development will play a pivotal role in advancing the university’s mission.
Before joining Rice University, Joop Oranje served as CEO & Principal Consultant at Soaring + Company for over five years, where he specialized in unlocking employee potential and optimizing organizational systems to drive performance and competitive advantage.

Joop also held the position of Director of People Operations at Safespill, overseeing HR initiatives, compensation strategy, performance management, and organizational policy development. During his tenure, he supported Safespill’s mission to deliver environmentally safe fire protection solutions.
At LyondellBasell, Joop spent over seven years in various senior HR roles, including Associate Director of HR, Global I&D and Supply Chain. He led human capital strategies, talent initiatives, and organizational development efforts across multiple business units in the Americas and Europe.
Earlier in his career, Joop contributed to the HR functions of organizations like Kraton Polymers, Yacht, and Centric IT Solutions, building expertise in recruitment, restructuring, and HR system design.
