PLANTATION, Fla., March 27, 2024 – MASA®, a pioneering firm since 1974 renowned for enhancing access to critical care through comprehensive emergency medical transportation coverage, proudly announced the addition of Joseph Heaney to its executive team as President of MASA’s Business Group. With a solid background spanning nearly a quarter-century in employee benefits, Heaney brings to MASA his wealth of experience from his time as the senior vice president of MetLife’s Group Benefits Regional Market Sales organization, where he was instrumental in delivering a broad spectrum of benefits solutions to employees and retirees.

In his pivotal new role, Heaney is tasked with steering a vigorous growth strategy for MASA’s health benefits sector, primarily across the U.S. and the Caribbean Islands. Moreover, he will explore innovative avenues for MASA’s strategic advancement in various domains such as Group Benefits and Strategic Partnerships, extending the company’s footprint in the U.S. national and regional practices, venturing into new international markets in the LATAM region, and forging significant distribution partnerships.

MASA CEO David Harris expressed enthusiasm over Heaney’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Joe to our leadership team. His decades of experience and credibility with so many partners in benefits solutions combined with his vision for MASA’s growth will help us find new ways to reach even more members and ensure we can protect them and their families with compassion.”

Heaney, reflecting on the challenges within the healthcare sector, remarked, “Too many individuals still face the threat of financial catastrophe after a medical emergency, even if they have health insurance. I’m honored to join a terrific organization that has been long committed to solving this problem and protecting millions of patients and their families in the U.S. and Caribbean.”

MASA stands out as the sole provider offering nationwide emergency transportation coverage without the constraints of a network. The company’s services span the entire U.S. and extend to 17 international locations, safeguarding millions of individuals globally.
