Washington D.C., USA – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has promoted Joshua Ederheimer as the Acting Chief Learning Officer (CLO). With over six years of dedicated service within DHS and a profound background in law enforcement and training, Joshua steps into this role to oversee the comprehensive educational and development strategies for DHS’s 260,000 employees.
AS the Acting Chief Learning Officer, His responsibilities include leading the DHS Office of Learning, Education, and Development Strategy (LEADS), setting department-wide policies, and enhancing training frameworks across various agencies including CBP, ICE, and FEMA. His efforts focus on developing a wide range of training programs, from new hires to senior executives, vital for the strategic preparedness and capability enhancement of the department.
Previous Experience Before his current role, Joshua was the Deputy Director at the Federal Protective Service, where from November 2017 to April 2024, he was instrumental in refining training operations and enhancing the agency’s protective missions across federal facilities nationwide. His leadership in training development particularly emphasized safety protocols, crisis response, and specialized security measures.
Earlier Career Highlights Joshua’s extensive career also includes significant roles at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he provided strategic law enforcement guidance and served as a Senior Law Enforcement Advisor from February 2016 to November 2017. His expertise greatly contributed to enhancing tribal law enforcement operations and national security protocols. Prior to this, he made impactful contributions at the U.S. Department of Commerce as the Senior Law Enforcement Advisor for the First Responder Network Authority, shaping key public safety communications initiatives.
