The Queensland Futures Institute (QFI) has announced a significant leadership transition, with Kate Farrar, Executive Officer of Brighter Super, stepping in as the new President, effective from 31 March 2024. This change comes as Julieanne Alroe retires from her decade-long tenure as President, a period during which she played a pivotal role in supporting Queensland’s economic and social advancement.
Julieanne Alroe’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding the QFI through a transformative decade, significantly contributing to the state’s prosperity. In recognition of her efforts and dedication, Julieanne will continue to lend her expertise to the institute as Immediate Past President, ensuring a seamless transition and ongoing support for the QFI’s initiatives.
Kate Farrar’s appointment marks a new chapter for the QFI, reflecting her notable career achievements and commitment to Queensland’s future. Brighter Super, under Farrar’s leadership, has seen a remarkable growth trajectory, establishing itself as the fourth largest non-government financial institution in Queensland based on funds under management. Her background spans the energy sector, financial services, and local government, highlighting a diverse and impactful career.
Prior to joining Brighter Super, Farrar held several prominent roles, including Managing Director of QEnergy, Chief Operating Officer at Ergon Energy Retail, and senior positions at Morgans Stockbroking, McKinsey and Company, and Suncorp Investment Management. Her extensive experience in leadership across finance and energy sectors positions her uniquely to steer QFI towards fostering innovation and growth for Queensland.
Upon her appointment, Farrar expressed her enthusiasm and commitment to her new role, stating, “Being appointed President of QFI is a profound honour and a responsibility I accept with deep commitment.
