Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland, February 2026 — Katja Rantala has started a new role as Vice President Human Resources at Aiven, where she will lead the company’s global people strategy as it continues to scale its AI-ready open source data platform business. In this role, she is responsible for strengthening leadership capability, talent strategy, and employee experience across Aiven’s international workforce.
Prior to joining Aiven, Katja Rantala held senior global HR leadership roles at Wolt, where she most recently served as Global Head of People Partnerships, Product+ and earlier as Global Head of Talent Management. During her tenure, she led enterprise-wide people strategy initiatives, including global performance frameworks and talent programs supporting thousands of employees across multiple countries, while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive organizational excellence.
Earlier, she served as Director, People & Culture at Utopia Music and as Global Senior HR Business Partner at Unity Technologies, where she partnered with global engineering and product leaders to build inclusive, high-performing teams and implement large-scale organizational and talent initiatives. These roles strengthened her expertise in global HR transformation within fast-growing technology environments.
In the earlier phase of her career, Katja Rantala held leadership and HR roles at HiQ Finland, Ovenia, and Securitas, along with experience in recruitment consulting and international relations. Across these roles, she built a strong foundation in organizational development, leadership coaching, and cross-cultural HR management.
