Storrs, Connecticut, United States, September 2024 – Lakeesha Brown has taken on the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at the University of Connecticut (UConn). In her new position, Lakeesha will oversee the university’s HR strategies, including employee relations, talent acquisition, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and organizational development, aligning UConn’s human resources with the institution’s strategic goals.
Prior to joining UConn, Lakeesha served as Vice President of Human Resources at UConn Health for 3 years, where she was instrumental in driving HR functions, fostering employee engagement, and implementing workforce strategies for healthcare professionals across the organization. Her tenure at UConn Health has given her unique insights into managing HR at large-scale institutions, especially in the areas of labor relations, talent management, and employee satisfaction.
Before her work at UConn Health, Lakeesha held multiple leadership positions at Mountainside, including Vice President of Human Resources, Director of Human Resources, and Employee Relations Manager over a span of 4 years and 6 months. During this time, she focused on optimizing HR functions and managing the complexities of employee relations and talent development across the organization.
Lakeesha also brings extensive public sector experience, having worked at the Connecticut Department of Labor and the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, where she gained expertise in labor relations, policy enforcement, and workforce planning. Her early career includes various HR leadership roles, where she developed a strong foundation in human resource management, employee relations, and compliance.
