Luis E. Rojo Promoted to President and CEO of Stepan Company

Northbrook, IL, USA – November, 2024 – Stepan Company (NYSE: SCL) has announced the promotion of Luis E. Rojo to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as well as his appointment to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Rojo steps into this role following the departure of Scott R. Behrens, who is leaving Stepan after a 31-year career to pursue other opportunities.

Quinn Stepan, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Stepan, expressed appreciation for Behrens’ contributions: “We thank Scott for his leadership and his many contributions to the growth and diversification of Stepan over his career. He played a key role in diversifying our market presence, delivering innovative sustainable technologies, and completing multiple acquisitions. We wish him success in his future endeavors.”

Previously Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Stepan, Rojo joined the company in April 2018 after a 21-year career at Procter & Gamble Co. His financial expertise and strategic focus on driving commercial and operational results have been instrumental in his leadership roles. Mr. Stepan highlighted Rojo’s impact: “Luis has developed a deep understanding of all aspects of our business. While he has a strong financial mindset, he also brings a blend of strategic thinking and a laser focus on capturing market and operational opportunities. Together with our strong team, Luis will drive profit recovery and deliver value for our shareholders.”

Rojo expressed his enthusiasm: “I am honored to assume the CEO role at Stepan Company and to work alongside our talented team. Together we will work to deliver profitable growth based on customer-centric innovation and operational excellence.”

In related news, Samuel S. Hinrichsen, currently Global Director of Finance, has been appointed as Vice President and Interim Chief Financial Officer while a search for a permanent CFO is underway.
