Portlethen, Scotland, United Kingdom – November 2024 – Mairi Benson has assumed the role of Head of People Services and Risk at Aegon UK. In her new position, she will be responsible for overseeing people services operations, developing risk mitigation strategies, and driving employee-centric improvements across Aegon’s UK division.
Benson joins Aegon UK with a distinguished career in HR and shared services. Most recently, she served as the Sr. Regional HR Shared Services Manager, Europe at National Oilwell Varco (NOV), where she managed HR operations across 15 countries, supporting a diverse workforce of approximately 7,000 employees. Her leadership transformed NOV’s regional HR shared services teams into a unified, streamlined operation, which significantly enhanced efficiency and consistency.
Prior to her time at NOV, Benson held multiple roles at NCR Corporation, including HR Shared Services Manager/Leader – EMEA, where she led a team spread across five locations and provided HR advisory services to over 8,000 employees across 35 locations in the EMEA region. She was instrumental in aligning regional HR strategies and implementing process improvements that supported NCR’s growth objectives.
Benson’s extensive HR career also includes earlier roles at NCR Corporation as a Senior Human Resources Specialist and HR Consultant, where she supported employee relations initiatives, advised senior leaders, and introduced HR initiatives across multiple European locations. She began her journey in the HR field with placement experiences at Aviva, Muirfield Contracts Ltd, and CSC Crop Protection, where she gained foundational skills that have underpinned her professional growth.
