San Diego, California, United States, September 2025 – Sharp HealthCare has announced the appointment of Marlys Kimmey as Director, Human Resources – Regional. In this role, she will oversee regional HR operations and drive people strategies to support Sharp’s mission of delivering exceptional patient care while making Sharp the best place to work and practice medicine.
Most recently, Kimmey served as Director of Human Resources at Children’s Hospital Colorado for over two years, where she partnered with leadership teams to advance talent strategies and enhance organizational effectiveness in a highly complex pediatric healthcare environment.
Before that, she held leadership roles at Sharp HealthCare, including Director of Human Resources and Talent Management at Sharp Coronado Hospital. During her tenure, she spearheaded initiatives that drove top-decile employee engagement, co-led DEI and belonging efforts, implemented innovative total rewards programs, and successfully guided HR components of major healthcare compliance surveys with zero findings.
Earlier in her career at Sharp HealthCare, she also served as Human Resources Manager, where she co-founded a hospital-wide leadership development program with over 600 leader touchpoints and drove positive labor relations strategies that significantly improved employee engagement.
Previously, Kimmey managed HR functions at Arch Health Medical Group, where she implemented compensation and benefits programs that reduced costs while ensuring equity. She also held senior HR roles at the American Academy of Physician Associates, San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), and the Special School District of St. Louis County, where she oversaw large-scale HR operations and employee relations.
