Boston, Massachusetts, United States, March 2025 – Mellissa Johnson has been appointed as Director, Human Resources Operations at Sappi, taking on a key leadership role in the organization’s North American HR function. In her new position, Mellissa will oversee HR operations with a focus on driving strategic efficiencies, enhancing systems and processes, and leading cross-functional HR initiatives that align with Sappi’s sustainability-focused mission.
Over the past five years, Mellissa served as Manager, Compensation, Employment, and HRIS at Sappi, where she played a pivotal role in advancing people strategies, managing compensation frameworks, and streamlining HRIS systems. Her leadership in cross-functional teams and strategic planning has been vital in modernizing HR operations across the organization.

Prior to that, she held the role of Manager, Compensation & Employment for over a year, and earlier served as a Compensation and Employment Specialist. Across these roles, Mellissa focused on compensation analytics, HRIS data management, and talent development initiatives, playing an integral part in Sappi’s HR transformation journey.
Mellissa began her career at Sappi in 2012 as a Senior HR Generalist, a role she held for nearly four years. Prior to joining Sappi, she worked for nearly 13 years at The Davis Companies, where she held positions including HR Generalist, Staff Accountant, HR Administrator, and Payroll Associate, gaining a deep understanding of HR operations, systems, and employee support services.
