Calgary, Alberta, Canada, June 2025 – Michael Heeb has been appointed as Vice President, Human Resources and Safety at Black Diamond Group, bringing with him over a decade of cross-functional leadership within the organization. In his new role, Michael will oversee the development and execution of HR strategies and safety initiatives, reinforcing Black Diamond’s people-first culture and operational excellence across its business units.
Michael has been a vital part of Black Diamond Group for nearly ten years, most recently serving as Vice President – Safety, Talent Development and Sustainability, where he led ESG initiatives, talent development programs, and company-wide safety systems. Prior to this, he held several impactful roles including Vice President – Major Projects and HS&E, General Manager – Major Bids, General Manager – Contracts and Administration, and Standards and Quality Assurance Manager, shaping strategic bids, overseeing project risk management, and implementing quality assurance systems.
Earlier in his career, Michael held leadership roles in the hospitality industry, including Director of Food and Beverage at Sawridge Group of Companies, and VP and General Manager at River Cree Casino and Resort, gaining significant experience in operations, team leadership, and guest services. These experiences contributed to his capability in building high-performance cultures in dynamic environments.
Michael’s foundational years were spent in culinary and F&B leadership roles, including Executive Chef positions at Holland America Cruise Lines, Hilton Hotel Niagara Falls, and Crowne Plaza Winnipeg, and as Executive Sous Chef at Westin Hotels, where he honed his expertise in service excellence, standards compliance, and team management across global and fast-paced environments.
