Akron, Ohio, United States, April 2025 – Mike Ellison has taken on the pivotal role of Head of Human Resources & Labor Relations – Manufacturing & Supply Chain (Americas) at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a global leader in tire manufacturing and mobility solutions. In his new position, Mike will lead the strategic HR and labor relations agenda for a vast manufacturing and supply chain ecosystem supporting over 28,000 employees across North, Central, and South America.
With a strong emphasis on operational excellence, labor relations, and organizational transformation, Mike is tasked with aligning HR strategies to business objectives, fostering a culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance across diverse, highly unionized and non-union environments. His role involves partnering with senior leadership on workforce engagement, talent strategy, collective bargaining, and enterprise-wide change management initiatives.
Mike Ellison’s journey at Goodyear spans over 16 years, where he has held progressive leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Head of Labor Relations and Labor Strategy, overseeing critical negotiations and strategic labor partnerships across the Americas. Prior to that, he was Senior Director, HR for the Americas Business Units, playing a key role in talent alignment and HR service delivery across regional operations.
Earlier in his tenure at Goodyear, Mike held roles including HR Director and HR Leader for North America Consumer and Commercial Sales, as well as Director of Talent and Organizational Development for the Americas, where he helped build robust learning and succession frameworks. His earlier roles as HR Workstream Leader for the new Americas plant in San Luis Potosi and HR Manager for Goodyear’s largest unionized plant in Fayetteville, NC, highlight his extensive experience in plant-level and corporate HR leadership.
Before joining Goodyear, Mike held multiple HR and labor relations positions at Chrysler LLC (FCA), where he managed salaried and hourly bargaining units, HR policy implementation, and organizational development. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Executive Officer, managing multimillion-dollar assets and leading a large operational team in Germany.
