Muhamed Riyas Appointed as Group Head – Human Capital at BinDawood Hypermarkets, Regional Group Qatar

Doha, Qatar, November 2025 — BinDawood Hypermarkets, part of Regional Group Qatar, has announced the appointment of Muhamed Riyas as its Group Head – Human Capital, marking an important leadership transition for the diversified conglomerate. In his new role, Riyas will oversee end-to-end human capital strategy, organizational development, and talent management across the Group’s diverse business verticals — including BinDawood Hypermarkets, University of Malaysia, Queens English School, Westfield Constructions, Prodesign Engineering, Regional Agriculture, Befry Chemical Fertilizers, and Regional Facility Management.

Riyas brings over two decades of rich HR leadership experience spanning retail, construction, hospitality, and education sectors. Prior to this appointment, he served as Qatar Head – HR at Landmark Group, where he led people operations and talent engagement for over 11 years, supporting multiple pre-opening initiatives, large-scale expansions, and regional workforce transformations.

Before his tenure with Landmark Group, Riyas held the role of Head of HR at Al Jaber Group, where he led human capital strategy and performance management for a wide range of infrastructure and industrial projects in Qatar. Earlier, as Director – HR at The GIGA Group, he played a key role in organizational development, culture transformation, and HR systems implementation across the UAE.

His career also includes senior leadership stints in the hospitality sector with The Windflower Hotels & Resorts, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited, and the Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Group), where he began his HR journey. These formative experiences provided him with a strong foundation in people operations, leadership development, and service excellence.

Riyas holds an MBA in Human Resources Management from CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore, and has built a reputation as a strategic HR leader with expertise in talent management, performance systems, organizational effectiveness, and pre-opening operations.
