Karāchi, Sindh, Pakistan, May 2024 – Nida Yousuf has been appointed as the Head of Human Resources at Pakistan State Oil (PSO). Nida brings extensive experience in human resources management and strategic HR leadership to her new role, where she will oversee HR functions and contribute to the company’s growth and operational excellence.
Nida’s most recent role was as Head of Human Resources – Reko Diq Mining Company at Barrick Gold Corporation, where she worked for approximately one year. In this position, she was responsible for developing HR strategies and supporting strategic initiatives to enhance human resources management within the company.
Before that, Nida served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Daraz for nearly five years. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing HR strategies that encompassed talent acquisition, performance management, organizational development, and succession planning. She also served as the Global Director Human Resources and Administration at Daraz, part of the Alibaba Group, where she contributed to cultural transformation and capability development across the organization.
From there, Nida held the position of Head of Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding at K-Electric for approximately two and a half years. She worked as a strategic partner for talent acquisition, led the implementation of Success Factors (SAP) – Recruitment Module, and developed integrated talent strategies to ensure workforce diversity and talent pipelining.
Earlier Roles:
Nida’s earlier roles include working as Head of Human Resources: Pakistan, Afghanistan & Bangladesh at Emirates Airline for over five years, where she established HR operations and contributed to the company’s overall business strategy. She also served as HR Advisor – Learning & Organizational Development at BP for over five years, where she managed various recruitment programs and contributed to organizational capability development.
Nida began her career with internships at Unilever and Novartis, gaining foundational experience in HR management and organizational development.
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is one of the important strategic assets of the Pakistani economy. As the country’s largest company in terms of turnover, PSO leads the oil marketing sector, both in black oil and white oil. It serves around 3 million customers every day across the entire economic value chain with over 3500 retail outlets and controls 74% of the country’s oil storage capacity. It is involved in import, storage, distribution, and marketing of a range of petroleum products including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, jet fuel, LPG, CNG, and petrochemicals.
